RINGA RAUTIA - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR NGĀTI WHAKAUE PAKIHI/SMEs

Ringa Rautia is a 10-week business development programme specifically for Ngāti Whakaue-owned businesses. In partnership with Toi Ohomai, and with sponsorship from Rotorua NZ, and Ngāti Whakaue Education Endowment Trust, Ringa Rautia was designed in response to the needs of our pakihi. It aims to help strengthen and grow Ngāti Whakaue businesses through a wrap-around development programme. The key outcome is the development of a comprehensive business plan.

Ngā Tāpitopito | Details

The programme consists of:

• Weekly workshops delivered by specialist tutors from Toi Ohomai

• Weekly one-on-one business coaching sessions (with Linda Bradbrook) to help business apply learnings

• Opportunity for an up to $5,000 capital grant upon completion

Ngā Awheawhe | Workshops

The workshops are being run by Toi Ohomai and will draw on their extensive network of experts to upskill business owners in the following areas:

• Business and strategic planning

• Sales, marketing and social media

• Money and tax

• Legal and compliance

• Employing people and building a team

• Innovation, entrepreneurship and attracting investment

NGĀTI WHAKAUE GOVERNANCE WĀNANGA

Ngāti Whakaue Governance Wānanga aims to upskill Ngāti Whakaue whanaunga who aspire to pursue a governance pathway. We have held two highly successful programmes so far with participants going on to secure 8 governance appointments and counting.

The two-day programme consists of

1. Ngāti Whakaue Governance Wānanga

This section is to build participants’ knowledge and understanding of Ngāti Whakaue governance history, theory and practice.

2. Governance Essentials Course – Institute of Directors

This section will enable participants to gain a confident grasp of the western concepts of effective governance, productive board relationships and robust board processes and protocols.

Outcomes

The aim of the course is that participants will gain a balanced perspective on governance principles and theory, which will support them to critically approach governance roles and responsibilities. We believe that this balanced perspective will give our aspiring governors a competitive advantage over those with only an understanding of western governance.

PAKU KŌRERO

He kohinga kōrero e pā ana ki ngā tini tūranga mahi o ō mātau whanaunga me ō rātau wheako, hai toutou i te ahi o Whakaaro mō ngā huarahi mahi.

Paku Kōrero is a collection of light conversations with our Whakaue whanaunga about their working lives and experiences to inspire rangatahi.

INTERNSHIPS

Internships are excellent opportunities to give our Whakaue rangatahi work experience within ideally excellent organisations that are either tailored specifically to Māori rangatahi or develop capability in a role or industry that is underserved within the iwi. The Trust have enabled internship opportunities for Ngāti Whakaue Rangatahi within the Trust and at Heartland Bank, Crankworx and Infracore.
